Our support office in East Kalimantan is known as the Balikpapan Support Facility (BSF). This large facility includes administration, purchasing and logistics support, warehousing and workshop maintenance facilities which are mainly focused on our mining operations.

BSF also houses the Thiess Indonesia' Training Development Centre. This learning centre coordinates our industry leading apprenticeship program, site based learning programs, operator learning simulator and also has a large number of class rooms.

The Balikpapan Support Facility also has a commercially registered deep water port in operation in April 2005. With deep water access through a dredged access channel we have a permanent LCT on standby and is fully equipped to receive LCTs and barges. Indonesian Port IV (Pelindo IV) has classified Thiess Port as a public-commercial port in Balikpapan.
