On Wednesday, 7 September 2011, Thiess Indonesia through "Thiess Indonesia Peduli" Program donated Rp 170 million to the Green Music Foundation for the construction of two educational facilities in two villages in the Mentawai Islands. The donation was handed over by Executive Director of Thiess Indonesia, Samel Rumende, to the Chairman of the Green Music Foundation, Glenn Fredly, at Thiess Indonesia's Head Office in Jakarta.

The educational facility named "Rumah Pintar - Smart Houses" is a community based educational facility and equipped with library and audio-video facilities. After a success in East Nusa Tenggara, the program will be also implemented in Mentawai Islands which hit by a tsunami in 2010 and still need a lot of assistance.

Both "Rumah Pintar" will be built in Mapinang village in South Pagai Island, and Pasapuat village in the nothern area of North Pagai Island. The funds will be used for the physical construction and supporting facilities procurement.

The donation collected from employees and the company is a contribution to the community in need, especially our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster. The donation is allocated for the post-disaster rehabilitation phase to support sustainability of disaster assitances in the area.

Previously, similar donations had been given by Thiess Indonesia to the victims of Aceh Tsunami in 2004, the Yogyakarta earthquake in 2006, Padang earthquake in 2009, and MErapi eruptions in 2010.
