Thiess Balikpapan received the East Kalimantan Education Award 2010 from the East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek during a ceremony held at the Hotel Bumi Senyiur Samarinda on 29 January 2011.

The East Kalimantan Education Award is presented as a tribute to institutions, schools, companies and city leaders who are concerned with the development of education in East Kalimantan. The assessment was conducted by an independent team formed by the Governor of East Kalimantan to verify all companies in East Kalimantan.

From team's verification, Thiess Balikpapan Office together with two other major companies namely KPC East Kutai and United Tractor Samarinda was nominated to receive the award. During the ceremony night, it was announced that Thiess Balikpapan Office won the East Kalimantan Education Award in 2010 in the category of Best Company in Education Support.

The Governor expressed his appreciation to all nominated companies for their contribution to the local education and stated that these companies are a role model for other companies in East Kalimantan.
