Gold Class Mining Safety Award
February 23, 2010 On Thursday, 3 December 2009, Supriyanto, Thiess Indonesia's Corporate Services Manager, received the "Aditama" (Golden) Safety Award on behalf of the Satui Project for the category of Mining Contractor from the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. TCI's Satui Project was selected as one of two gold winners after successfully passing a Safety Audit in October 2009. The Aditama Award is presented to companies that successfully achieve score 90-100 in managing their Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program and meets two key criteria based on Incident Prevention and Incident Frequency Rates from 2008 to 2009. The candidates were also required to book zero LTI during the period of 2008-2009. The Indonesian Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, promotes these awards to encourage mines, and their respective Technical Mine Managers, to improve Health and Safety Performance throughout operations. As of month-ending December 2009, TCI's Satui Mining Project successfully operated 13,448,434 man-hours, or 610 days, LTI-free.
