The Thiess-White Energy Alliance construction team symbolically hand over the site to the Tabang Briquette and Power Station facility to the client PT Kaltim Supacoal (Bayan Resources - WEC joint venture) with the production of the unit's first clean coal briquettes on the 25 August 2009.

The Tabang Plant is the first full scale production module of its type in Asia so the smooth first run production is a green flag for further development of the technology in the region. The achievement is also testament to Thiess Indonesia's ability to build pioneering projects, even in remote locations like Tabang, East Kalimantan.

Thiess Indonesia will continue to work for owner PT Kaltim SupaCoal on site with an Operations and Maintenance Contract. This includes a team of 100 employees working 24 hours a day to support the processing facility and power station.
