To support the National Tree Planting Month, Thiess' Satui Coal Mine employees have been working jointly with our client Arutmin Indonesia to complete tree planting program which has seen more than 500 trees planted in February 2009. The environmental programme's theme was "Tanam Pohon Gasan Banua Kita"(Plant trees for our space) and was launched on 24 January 2009.

It started with a symbolic planting on the side of provincial road in Sungai Danau District by representatives from all companies, educational institutions and government officers, plus local youth leaders who are participating in the event.
Over the month, more than 500 trees, mostly fruit trees, were progessively planted in selected areas such as along the provincial road in Satui, Army Office, District Office, and schools.

By planting tress, we hope that we can provide a new sense of spirit and positively contribute to the fight against global warming. The program has also allowed the local Satui community to work together and give more love to their surrounding natural land by planting trees.
