Thiess Indonesia Preferred Tenderer for Trans Java Toll Road Packages 1 & 2
July 16, 2008

PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia has been nominated preferred tenderer for two major sections of the Trans Java Toll Road Package by the Indonesian Government's toll road authority, BPJT on 19 May 2008.

Thiess Indonesia has been awarded 35 year concessions for the 69.20 km Solo - Mantingan - Ngawi Toll Road and 49.51 km Ngawi - Kertosono Toll Road, both sections of the Trans Java Toll Road. The Public Private Partnership model will include investments worth US$829 million.
Thiess Indonesia is also the preferred bidder on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road 2 Package 3 from Cinere to Serpong with their consortium partner Waskita Karya. The combination of the three toll road packages takes Thiess' total investment into Indonesian infrastructure projects up to US.1.2 billion over the next few years.
Thiess Indonesia will undertake the construction of the four lane motorway with several river crossings and five interchanges. Land acquisition and associated funding remain the responsibility of the Government and are yet to be completed. The construction works are expected to commence in 2009 after the Government completes land acquisition.

Thiess Indonesia's President Director, Roy Olsen said, "This section of Trans Java is a good fit with Thiess's growing investment in Indonesian. We have been operating in Indonesia for twenty years on a number civil construction and mining projects, however, have not been the lead investor."

"Thiess has extensive involvement in similar toll road investment projects in Australia and we are confident our skills and experience will deliver quality infrastructure in Indonesia."

Mr Olsen congratulated the Indonesian Government on its initiative to involve private sector in the development of critical infrastructure works and for allowing foreign investors to help support the Government in delivering the vital infrastructure. He was confident the partnership would deliver quality infrastructure and greater benefits to the areas surrounding the project.
