May 12, 2008
On Sunday 26th December there was a powerful earthquake and triggered tsunamis that caused widespread destruction in Aceh and North Sumatra. Nearly 80.000 peoples reported dead, and thousand of others injured. 80 percent of the city's infrastructure was destroyed, with most homes and many shops flattened or wrecked. Those who survived have illnesses such as respiratory problems, diarrhea, skin irritations and cuts.
On December 29th 2004, Thiess Indonesia has contributed IDR 500,000,000.- (Five Hundreds Million Rupiah) to the North Sumatra Relief FUND which is being managed by International SOS. This Donation will be used directly for the purchase of medical supplies and equipment and then for the provision of medical assistance to the victims in Aceh.
This charity has no administration costs and all monies are fully auditable. Thiess will receive regular reports which will include photos of the utilization of the funds.
We sincerely hope the grace of God will be bestowed on these unfortunate victims of this tragedy.
