The symbolic ceremony of the fund hand over from TCI Regional Human Resources Manager, Michael Maddocks, assisted by TCI Community Development Manager, Parlindungan Sibarani to ITS' rector, Mohammad Nuh, was held on October 12, 2005.

The contribution of the fund is a part of Thiess' commitments to community development in Indonesia through education sector by supporting the development of the laboratory of the Indonesia's eastern biggest technology university. ITS has more than 18,000 students enrolled in the year of 2005, 30%-40% of them are non resident students.

In a partnership form, ITS, government and TCI, hand in hand, will contribute in the development of human resource, especially for the new graduates in the future. By participating in this effort, TCI not only helps ITS in particular but also the mining industry and the Country in general.

TCI selected ITS to be eligible for the donation because the university has a very strong prospect to be a leader and has shown its genuine desire to develop human resource and its graduates. It has shown the commitment to support the industry, including the development of mineral (geothermal) and hydrocarbon exploration.

Furthermore TCI and ITS have developed partnership for scholarship and leadership program.
