With more than 9,000 employees, Thiess Indonesia recognises the value of its people and provides continual training and development of their skills both at site and at a dedicated and extensive training centre located in Balikpapan.
Our professional and supervisional staff regularly undergo specific, customised technical and leadership development programs. This often includes secondments of 3 to 6 months in overseas operations. The Thiess Indonesia graduate programs also aims to recruit the top achievers from some of Indonesia’s leading institutions.
Balikpapan Training Facility
Thiess Indonesia’s Training and Development Centre (TDC) located in Balikpapan, Kalimantan, was established in 1992 to develop the skills and capabilities of our employees. It is now one of the largest of its kind in the country. The facilities focus is to provide staff with the necessary skills which enable them to confidently take on additional responsibility and advance and develop through our organisation.
We maintain relationships with a number of Indonesian and Australian institutions so that the training programmes are recognised both domestically and internationally. On average each year we have 400 apprentices in various stages of their mechanical, auto-electrical or welding apprenticeships. Moreover, the schemes are Australian TAFE certified.
Our TDC extends to project sites which allows us to quickly ramp-up the man power needed for projects, meet local employment requirements and conduct on-site training for project skills shortages.
