At the end of shift on Saturday, 28 December 2013, Vale Construction Services Project in Sorowako achieved a milestone of 9 years without LTI since 2004.
Nine years is not a short period of time. The success to maintain a workplace free of injury requests an enormous effort and commitment by all team at Sorowako Project.
Project Manager Yosia Rantemangiling said that a great teamwork is the key to maintain safety especially in a large scale project employing a large number of employees divided into different departments. “In any organisation, there are always objectives to achieve and it requests best contribution from each employee. In safety, Thiess’ objective is simple: Everyone Safe Every Day, and everyone here is commited to it,” said Yosia.
In early February 2014, Executive Manager Construction Paul Forghani visited the Sorowako Project and handed over a plaque of appreciation for the great achievement to the Sorowako team. “It is more than a milestone to be proud of, but the the record has set a new target for us. I am looking forward to celebrate a 10 years record by the end of this year,” said Paul.
The nine years is an addition to the list of Sorowako Project in 2013. During this year, the Sorowako team completed 9 project packages with value more than US$17.6 million.
